Game Arrivals: Week of Dec. 27th – 31st

We’re loading up the shelves again after the Holiday madness.

Here’s a look at this week’s game arrivals:

    New Game Arrival!
R&R Games
Mombasa is an economic strategy game that centers on the chartered companies that operated during the global colonization period.

Players are investors competing to earn the most money by investing goods in chartered
companies and spreading their trading posts from their company bases throughout the African
continent. By investing goods you increase the number of shares you hold in those companies
and by spreading their trading posts you increase the value of each share. Also, you can improve
your earnings and prospects by building up diamond stocks and by clever bookkeeping.

Wrath of Dragons
Catalyst Game Lab
Wrath of Dragons is a game of resource destruction for 2 to 6 players.

Players are dragons that, over the course of the game, will fly into the various regions on the game board and lay waste to settlements, scorch fields, snatch livestock, take gold, and capture nobles.

After 6 centuries have passed, the devastation, destruction, and fear that the dragons have caused is scored, and the dragon that earns the most Victory Points is the winner.

   New Game Arrival!
Adding to our selection of kids games is Dragonwood, a Mensa award winning game that emphasizes strategy and probability.

Dare to enter Dragonwood!  Deep in the heart of this mythical forest lurk angry ogres, giggling goblins, and even the famed and fearsome fire-breathers themselves.  Collect sets of adventurer cards to earn dice, which you will roll against your foes.  Stomp on some fire ants, shriek at a grumpy troll, or strike the menacing orange dragon with a magical silver sword.  Choose your strategy carefully because the landscape of Dragonwood is ever-charging… Only the bravest will overcome the odds to emerge victorious.

  New Game Arrival!
Tasty Minstrel Games
Harbour is an easy to learn game with a quick play time and a lot of depth.

Harbour is a worker placement game where players move their worker from building to building, collecting and trading Fish, Livestock, Wood, and Stone; and cashing those resources in to purchase buildings (which are the worker placement spots) from the central pool. Once a building is purchased, it is replaced from the deck, and the central pool is a small subset of the deck, and is therefore different every game.

At the heart of Harbour is a dynamic market mechanism. Each time a player purchases a building, the value of the resources they used drops, while the value of the other resources rise. You’ll have to carefully time your purchases to take advantage of the ebb and flow of market prices, or be prepared to waste some resources!
