Azul
Summer Pavilion
Next Move Games

Azul: Summer Pavilion is the third in the series of abstract games from game designer Michael Kiesling (Azul and Azul: Stained Glass Of Sintra).

In Azul: Summer Pavilion, two to four players return to Portugal to accomplish the task that never began.  As a master artisan, you must use the finest materials to create the Summer Pavilion while carefully avoiding wasting supplies.  Only the best will rise to the challenge to honor the Portuguese royal family.  During the course of the game you will pick the tiles of a matching color and one wild Joker tile.  After all the tiles have been taken players in turn order, will begin placing their collection of tiles onto their player board.  Each color has specific numbered spots indicating how many of that color you must have in order to place.  Remember to use your wild tiles as in future rounds the color changes as to what is considered wild.  When you surround a bonus spot you gain additional tiles from the central game board. You can save up to four tiles each round.  Score points after each placement. Only clever placement of your tiles will yield the most in points and bonuses.

Targi
Kosmos

Targi is another great 2-player game that is back after a long absence.

A Targi is a male member of the Tuareg people, who live in the Sahara desert.  As tribe leaders, you are in competition to build the most prosperous tribe.  To do this, you must trade goods from near and far in order to earn gold and advantages, to ultimately expand your tribes.

In the game, the desert is a 5×5 grid of cards.  You place your Targi figures on the cards that border the desert, and carry out the actions of those cards as well as the cards at the desert crossroads between them.  If you don’t go to the trader, you won’t be able to trade – or even worse, your opponent will.  Or… maybe a caravan will bring the goods you desire.  The desert is a dangerous place, with robbers and rival tribes all vying for the same resources.  There are many choices to consider, and the shifting desert sands bring a different set of choices each round.  You can win only if you plan shrewdly and always keep some gold in your pocket.
