First Empires is an easy-to-learn civilization game with area control and dice rolling. The game has really cool components from custom dice to dual layer player boards that will hold your cubes and are also beautifully illustrated, to a colorful ancient world map. Also nicely included are individual player boxes that hold all your cards, cubes, wooden explorers, and city tokens. – – 2 to 5 players – – 30 minutes
In First Empires, each player takes command of a rising nation of ancient times. The object of the game is to score more points than the other players. Points are awarded for moving up on the 5 different tracks represented in colors, accumulated city tokens, and fulfilling objective cards. Each track yields increased abilities as you move up such as the number of dice you roll, your movement on the map, additional objective cards, and additional explorers. The dice tell you which tracks you will move up on. When you reach a city token level on a specific track you will be able to place a city token in a country that you control. City tokens can be captured by your opponents.
