Days of Wonder has taken Ticket to Ride to another level of gaming experience with Ticket to Ride Legacy: Legends of the West, a legacy-style game, meaning some of the results of a game carry forward to future games. Over the course of twelve games, you will make permanent changes to your version of the game. You will add new rules, new materials, new pieces to the board, and so on. Many of the things you will find are hidden at the start of the game. – – 2 to 5 players – – 20 to 60 minutes
In Ticket to Ride Legacy, completing tickets will remain the primary goal, but you will need to develop other skills if you hope to overcome the unexpected events and resourceful rivals. As you work your way through the campaign of twelve games, you will continuously fill your vault with earnings and open frontier boxes that will unlock new rules, content, and many more surprises. Each game will have a beginning, middle, and end. After tallying up scores, you will make changes to your game based on what happened in the game you just played. When you start the next game, there will be parts that pick up where you left off, new rules to be applied, the addition of new cards, and more parts to add to the game board.
The object of the game is to have the most money. Money is gained by successfully completing a continuous path of routes between two cities listed on your tickets, claiming routes of your own color, performing certain event actions, and using up your trains. Money is lost for each of your route tickets that you do not complete by the end of the game.
