New in from Queen Games is Kingdom Builder Crossroads, the second expansion to Kingdom Builder. 

This expansion adds mew locations,new landscapes, and new challenges.  Task cards challenge players to build their settlements in a certain way in order to gain even more gold at the end of the game.
















New Amsterdam

Newly released from Pandasurus Games is New Amsterdam, a strategic game of bidding,
building and trade for 2-5 players with a brisk 60 minute play-time.


New Amsterdam is based on the Dutch West Indies Company’s founding of New Amsterdam situated along the Hudson River.  Players will bid on action lots in order to build businesses, work land for both food and building materials, compete in elections, ship furs to Eurasia, and trade with the Indians – a process that gets more complicated as players claim more land and push the Indian camps farther up the Hudson River.

Days of Wonder

Days of Wonder has released another in its Ticket To Ride Map Collection Series. This latest release, Ticket To Ride Nederland contains a map of the Netherlands, destination tickets, and bridge toll tokens.  As with the others in the Map Collection Series this is an expansion and requires either Ticket To Ride USA or Ticket To Ride Europe to play.

This map includes a new twist where procrastination will cost you.  All routes have a cost, which players must pay for with Bridge Toll Tokens.  When the 1st route of a double-track route is claimed, the corresponding value of Bridge Toll Tokens is paid directly to the bank; but when it is the 2nd route, the value is paid to the player who claimed the 1st route instead.  Bridge Toll Tokens are worth bonus points at the end of the game.

Table Top Season 2: Takenoko

It’s entertainment time with another episode from the Table Top series hosted by Wil Wheaton of Star Trek fame, on Felicia Day’s YouTube Channel Geek and Sundry.  Today it’s a Panda feeding frenzy in the board game Takenoko.

Game Goes “Off The Charts”: Morels

Recently, we made a quick trip to Spokane to take care of some family matters.  Even though we had a day of no rain or snow it was a bit on the cold side, a high around 35 degrees.  It was a perfect fall day.




With some wait time in between appointments we walked around Riverfront Park, a lovely public park in downtown Spokane. 


We found a picture-perfect spot for a game of Morels.
This 2-player game packed away nicely for our trip to
our old stomping grounds.

Game Night with Dead Panic

Wow, was it ever a nail bitter in Weds Game Night game of Dead Panic.  Newly released, and new to hit the table the zombies came out in masses and were hot on the heels of the living  Eric, Roxanne, and Mike.

The situation has certainly gotten tense. Yikes, the zombies are coming out in masses and so many zombies have invaded the cabin.


Luckily, the rescue van has arrived.  But, can they escape to the rescue van before the zombies turn them into zombies?

It’s near the end as the living are sprinting for the rescue van.
Wow, look at all those pink zombies in the cabin and Roxanne.
has zombies on her heels. Will all 3 make it safely to the van?
Yea, the team made it successfully to the
rescue van without becoming zombies.

From Mayfair Games is this board game of Catan set in a Star Trek universe, Star Trek Catan.

For fans of Settlers of Catan, Star Trek Catan offers a space theme replacing settlement and city tokens for outposts and star bases.  The road pieces are now the USS Enterprise looking spaceships and the robber is a Klingon battle cruiser.  The game mechanics are similar as in Settlers of Catan with an added variant. Special ability character cards have been added to the game play.  Be Uhura and use her special ability, discard after use and come back as Spock, or Sarek or any of the other available characters each with a unique ability.

For gamers new to Settlers of Catan, in Star Trek Catan you are exploring the universe setting up outposts on planets in order to obtain valuable resources.  The right combination of resources allows you the ability to expand your supply route to other planets, upgrade your outposts into star bases, acquire development cards.  If you can’t get the right combination of resources you can trade with your opponents but beware of hoarding resources.  A Klingon battle cruiser may attack and you could lose some of those valuable resources.  Amass the most victory points and you win.

New from Fireside Games is the much anticipated, Dead Panic.  Fireside Games has had much success with the collaborative game, Castle Panic.

Make a stand in a remote cabin to survive the night.  Players pick one of 8 characters, each with a special ability, to start in the center of the board to defend against waves of zombies. Ranged weapons are available, but when all else fails hand-to-hand combat will be necessary. Players must work together to defend the cabin until survivors can bring pieces of a radio that will have to be assembled in order to call for a rescue. While venturing outside the cabin one must be extra careful as the zombies will be drawn to you. More danger awaits you when it is your turn to possess the Bait token.  Once the rescue vehicle arrives players must make a run for it.








Anytime during the game if a player takes too many injuries the character dies and comes back as a zombie to chase down their former teammates.  Players are aided by weapons drawn from the cabin deck and hindered by events from the event deck.  Winners will defend the cabin well, retrieve and assemble the radio, then sprint to the rescue van before they too become a zombie.

Wow, is it ever a zombie apocalypse!

Castellan comes in two 2-color editions, a blue & red edition, and now a green & yellow edition.  Each Castellan edition is a 2-player game played with the same game mechanics.You can create a 4-player game by combining the Blue/Red edition with the Green/Yellow Edition.
