The Isle Of Cats
The City of Games
|
Full of colorful components including kitty cat figures and fish and basket tokens, The Isle Of Cats is a medium-weight board game that combines tile placement with card drafting. It is a competitive game for 1 to 4 players and plays in 60 to 90 minutes. A family mode variant provides a 30 to 60 minute game.
Â
In The Isle of Cats, each player has a boat that they will fill with rescued cats and treasures taken from an island. Cats and treasures are represented by tiles of different shapes that will be placed onto a player’s boat. Each cat is represented by one of five families. It is important to remember that cat families prefer to be together. Players will draft cards to explore the island where they will rescue the cats, get treasures, collect different types of baskets and collect lessons. Players will use their limited supply of fish to lure cats into baskets in order to get the cats onto their boat. Fulfilling lessons provides additional ways to score more points.

Remember keep cats with their families, complete lessons, and leave enough room to place the next thing on your boat.

Succulent
Renegade Games
|
Get your gardening proverbial green thumb out for Renegade Games’ new game, Succulent. This is a 2 to 4 player tile laying game with elements resource management and set collection that plays in 45 to 60 minutes.
Â
The center game board is made up of 8 modular garden plots depicting flowers and water droplets. Two of these boards will be face up and the remaining face down at the start of the game. Each player will have a greenhouse, a gardener token represented by color and garden tool, plus flower tokens in their player color, and two starting flower beds. Flower beds will get placed into the central garden which will gain the player flower cuttings and hopefully water droplets. Flower cuttings are used to fulfill projects worth victory points. Water droplets can be used to help fulfill projects and any large droplets in a player’s greenhouse at the end of the game can also be worth victory points. During the game when the last water droplet in the central garden is covered by a garden bed, one of the other face down garden plots will be flipped over. At the end of the game, the player with the most points wins.

Players compete to acquire the most outstanding hats by exchanging cards in hand with cards on the tea table board. The player who most recently ate a cookie will start the game. Each card exchange influences how each hat is scored. Players also compete for the one and only chocolate cookie. It awards 5 bonus points to the player with the most different types of hats in their collection. Naturally, at the end of the game, the player with the highest score will be declared the maddest!
