Queendomino Blue Orange Games |
of different types of kingdom tiles placed in a 5×5 grid. Players earn points
by strategically selecting dominoes for their kingdoms, and then matching and
connecting them to form different territories. Each domino has 2 terrain
squares, and a territory is a group of matching terrain squares that are
connected horizontally or vertically. Territories only earn points if they
include at least one crown. Players can also earn points by buying buildings
for towns in their kingdoms, and placing them on open construction squares. By placing buildings in their kingdoms,
players reap bonuses immediately, during future turns, and/or at the end of the
game. The more connecting terrain squares, point-earning crowns, and building
bonuses a territory has, the more points players receive at the end of the
game.

Pandemic Legacy Season 2 Z-Man Games |
A New Mission
The world almost ended seventy-one years ago. A virulent plague came out of nowhere and ravaged the world. For three generations, small groups of survivors have struggled to keep the world alive. Operating from floating stations known as “havens,” they have maintained a loose network of the largest cities by delivering supplies to the mainland. But their efforts are no longer enough. Cities are falling off the grid and supplies are running low. The world needs a group of heroes to emerge and lead it through this crisis. In Pandemic Legacy: Season 2, this task has fallen to you. You must reestablish supply lines and get the world back on its feet. Along the way, the decisions you make affect future games. As you play, you will unlock new components, make new discoveries about your world, and stumble upon secrets that could change the course of history. No matter what happens, though, the world is counting on you. You are humanity’s last chance.

Capital Lux Aporta Games |
Capital Lux is a tactical set collection card game from Aporta Games.
The object of the game is to collect sets of different color cards in your play area (hometown) where each color type has the highest total value without that total exceeding the total value of that color type in the central area (city). Each color type has a specific ability when played to the city: gain a coin, draw and place a secret modifier card, draw and add a card to your hand, and move the lowest value card from the city to your hometown. Knowing when to play to the city versus playing to your hometown is the key. At the end of the round each player tallies each of their color sets and compares it to the tallied value (adjusted for any modifiers) it’s respective color set in the city. The player with with the highest value within the limit receives the highest numbered card of that color from the city as end game victory points. Any hometown color sets that exceeds the limit are forfeited. Everyone else keeps their sets and begins a new round. At the end of the game the player with the most points wins.

Game Profile: The Quest For El Dorado
perilous paths and rewarding riches.
El Dorado is a deck-building
racing game. The object of the game is
to be the first player to negotiate through the jungle to El Dorado. Along the way players will cross 3 types of
terrain. Each terrain type requires
different types of cards to move onto and across. A turn is a typical deck-building turn where
you deal yourself 4 cards from your starting deck and use them to either move
across the board or to buy a more valuable card to add to your deck.
of a starting board and an ending board. In between are up to 8 double-sided jungle
boards. These jungles boards can be
arranged in any course configuration.
The course can be short and not too challenging, or long and nastier.
to the way additional cards come into play through the game. Each player’s starting deck is comprised of 8
cards – 3 explorers to move through the jungle, 1 suitor to cross water, and 4
travelers to cross deserts. These cards can instead be used to purchase
additional cards from the card marketplace.
The card marketplace contains 18 different types of expedition cards;
each in its own stacks of 3. Only six of
these stacks will be active and available to purchase from. As a stack is depleted, the next player to
buy a card can choose to purchase a card from one of the 12 inactive stacks thereby,
making it now one of the active stacks.
El Dorado is easy to teach and
is entertaining to play. The various
board configurations that are possible can make it as easy or as challenging as
the players want. Some boards are
definitely harder to get across than others.
The game also includes a variant where caves can be explored along the
way to acquire special abilities. You
may have to slow down to do the exploration, but remember it is a race.
Spiel des Jahres (Game Of The Year) award.
