While we were away at a game convention this week a big restocking shipment arrived that also included two new games.

Math Fluxx

Newest to the Fluxx line of card games is Math Fluxx, a numerical card game with ever-changing rules.

Math Fluxx is really all about the numbers. Players use positive integers (whole numbers) in their quest to achieve a very mathematical Goal. But it’s not just putting 4 and 2 together to achieve the 42 Goal (for example); Math Fluxx also features the Plan B Meta Rule. Plan B puts Special Victory Rules into play which give you a second way to win and require even more arithmetical acumen (ex. Plus Victory lets you win if your Keepers add up to the current Goal).

With Math Fluxx, the fun is exponential!

Signorie
What’s Your Game?

In Signorie, you take on the role of a Signore, the Lord of a renowned Italian during the Renaissance. The goal is to strengthen your influence and to build a powerful dynasty by making strategic alliances.

Twenty dice in 5 colors are rolled at the beginning of each round. On their turn, a player will choose one of the die and place it on their player board performing the corresponding action.  The color of the die determines the possible actions, and the number on the die is a discount on the cost of the action.

Signorie

The dice mechanism is easy and innovative and gives players simple, but challenging choices. Money is always tight, so there is a temptation to choose a high valued dice, but that needs to be balanced with obtaining the reward.

Game Goes “Off The Charts”: Quests Of Valeria

As it was time to take another game “Off The Charts”, we packed an overnight bag and with games in tow we headed to the coast.  The day was gorgeous 64˚with blue skies and only a slight breeze – a much needed break in the icy weather we’ve had this winter.



Quests Of Valeria is the 3rd game in the Valeria Kingdom.  We took our demo copy on our own quest to Cape Disappointment State Park.  Cape Disappointment was anything but a disappointment.  We found Waikiki Beach within Cape Disappointment a scenic spot for a picnic and a game of Quests Of Valeria.
In Quests Of Valeria, each player is a Guild Master who goes to the tavern to recruit citizens and reserve quests for the citizens to complete.  Players will compete to complete quests of which there are four types; Adventure, Battle, Commerce, and 
Subterfuge.



Some of my favorite Quests were Flush Out the Goblins Den, Vandalize The Orb of Urdr, Raise the Dragon Hatchling, and Bribe the Amarynth Nobles.



For players familiar with Valeria Card Kingdoms and/or Villages Of Valeria, the characters and icons will be familiar. As with the other two, the game play is different. Each is a separate stand-alone game.

Lovecraft fiction.  You and your fellow players are investigators who will travel the world solving mysteries in an effort to prevent an evil Ancient One from awakening and destroying the world.  You’ll gather clues, encounter strange and mysterious circumstances, battle monsters, and embark on daring expeditions.

Aye, Dark Overlord!, the pass-the-blame party card game now in a Red box and Green box version. 

The original Aye, Dark Overlord game now comes in the Red Box. The new Green Box version adds new Hint, Action and Withering Looks cards, as well as introducing new mechanics: Back of the Line and No Way! Action cards. Both of these can be played as a stand-alone game or combined.

Hero Realms is a 2-4 player fantasy themed card game that combines deckbuildng with trading card game-style combat. 

In Hero Realms you’ll use gold to add new actions and champions to your deck.  When played, those actions and champions generate powerful effects, give you additional gold, and damage your opponent and their champions.  If you reduce your opponent’s health to zero, you win.
