Give Me The Brain!

So who said it was easy to work at a fast food restaurant with a bunch of zombies? 

The game starts with a round of bidding to see who gets the one and only brain.  The object is to complete all the tasks in your hand of cards.  Unfortunately, many tasks actually require you to have the brain.  Rolling a successful die roll keeps the brain, unsuccessful roll drops the brain on the floor leading to another bidding war for the brain.  Be the 1st to empty your hand by completing all of your tasks and you will be the brainiest zombie.

Stuff And Nonsense
Players wander the streets of London to gather artifacts so they can spin exotic tales at the Adventurer’s Club.  Clearly honest is not the best policy.  Moving quickly to grab the right artifacts while avoiding Professor Elemental is the best policy in this set collection card game.
So which of your friends can concoct the most outrageous set of stories without leaving town?  Find out in Stuff And Nonsense.

Unexploded Cow
For the serious student of history, using mad cows from England to tramp around in fields in France to low up bombs left over from WWI and WWII makes perfect sense.  There  are 12 cities that need to be cleared of bombs.  If you can blow up one of your cows on your turn you will gain the gratitude of that city’s citizens and a nice bonus.  That may not be as easy as it sounds.  You will need some adventurous cows and a little luck to earn the most money and victory.

Pairs

This is called a pub game.  I think that means whoever loses may be on the hook for the next round of drinks.  There are no winners.  Just one loser.  The loser is the person to score a set number of points, 16 in a 4 player game.  Each player gets one card face up. Next, the player with the lowest number gets to either take points equal to any one of the face up cards or draw another card.  If he/she opt for the points the round is over and a new round is dealt. If he/she opts to take a card then if the new card creates a pair the player gets the points from the paired card and and the round is over.  If the new card does not create a pair then play options move to the next player.  The deck is stocked with 1 one, 2 two’s, 3 three’s, etc. on up to 10 tens.  Press your luck and make someone else buy the next round.

Falling: Real Time Card Game

This is a fast paced real time card game where the object is to be the last player to hit the ground. The deck consists of Hit, Split, Skip, Extra, Move, Stop, and Ground cards. One player will be the dealer and does not do the falling but deals out the deck of cards to the other players one card at a time and always face up.  The dealt card will dictate whether a player will receive more cards before the dealer moves on to the next player.  Players also have the ability to alter the deal in their attempts to avoid being the last player to hit the Ground.  All falling players will eventually hit the Ground, the goal is to not be the last one to hit the Ground.

Description

Nefarious: The
Mad Scientist Game is a strategy game by game designer Donald X. Vaccarino who
also designed Dominion and Kingdom Builder.   In Nefarious you are mad scientists competing to destroy the world. To do
so, you must build terrifying inventions which require research, hard work, and
espionage. Unfortunately for you, other mad scientists are trying to steal your
evil glory by destroying the world first. 
Overtake your rivals and become the most notorious mad scientist in
history!

The goal in Nefarious is to build inventions that total 20 or more
points.  At the start of each round
players will simultaneously chose and reveal one of 4 actions.  Your options are 1) Espionage where
your spies can earn you money in future rounds, 2) Invent something
outrageous like a Buttered Cat Array or a Space Elevator gaining you victory
points and special effects, 3) Research which yields you potential
inventions and money, and 4) Work which gains you much needed money to pay for
those inventions.   Game ends when at the
end of a round at least one player has 20 points worth of inventions placed in
front of them.  Everyone then adds their
points and the player with the most points becomes the Certifiable Evil Genius
Scientist!

Additionally, there is a twist to the
game.  At the start of each game you will
chose 2 of the 36 available Twist cards. 
Twist cards modify the rules of the game thereby providing variability each
time you play.

Also new in is Tides Of Time from Portal Games. Merciless cunning and grand choices – a deeply tactical game.

Tides Of Time combines the ease of play of a micro game with the strategic depth of set collection and drafting for a unique 2-player experience.  Players are dealt a hand of 5 cards and draft one card at a time, passing their hands between them after each selection.  Each cards has suit as well as a unique scoring rule that may score the player points based on the suits of cards drafted.  At the end of each round, the players  select one card to keep in their kingdom for future rounds as a Relic of the Past.

The World of SMOG –

Last but not least of the new games in this week is The World Of SMOG: On Her Majesty’s Service from Cool Mini Or Not, a puzzling game of set collection set in a steampunk universe.

Players must negotiate a constantly changing game board made up of rotating tiles.  The sides of the tiles facing a player will dictate what items and costs that are available to that player.  Additionally fog barriers can hinder movement.  Adding more for players to contend with are the Agents of the Shadow Master, each with a different ability.

It all begins with one basic rule: Draw one card, Play one card. You start with a hand of three cards… add the card you drew to your hand, and then choose one card to play, following the directions written on your chosen card. As cards are drawn and played from the deck, the rules of the game change from how many cards are drawn, played or even how many cards you can hold at the end of your turn.
