Description
A Game of Thrones: The Card Game, is a card game of conquest, battle, intrigue, and betrayal based on George R.R. Martins’ bestselling A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novel series.

In the game each player represents 1 of the 6 Great Houses of Westero vying for control of the Iron Throne and power over the people of the Seven Kingdoms.  Power is gained by winning challenges against an opponent’s house.  There are 3 types of challenges: military, intrigue, and power.  The 1st player to gain 15 power wins the game.

A Game of Thrones: The Card Game can be played in a multi player melee format with 3-4 players, or in a one-on-one joust format with 2 players.  Whichever format you choose, the game has only just begun!

Game Profile: Agricola

The 17th Century: not an easy period for a farmer.

Mechanics Worker Placement
Theme Economic Farming
Publication Z-Man Games, 2007
Ages 12+
Time 120
Players 1 – 5
Description
In Agricola players start
the game with two family members living in a two room wooden hut. In each
round, each member of their family may choose one action. If they collect wood
and reed, they can extend their hut and then add to their family. Family growth
allows additional actions, but has the disadvantage that more food must be
produced. And to get food, the players plow fields and plant seeds. The planted
grain and vegetables are harvested during the harvest, when animals breed as
well. To raise animals, pastures must be fenced to allow sheep, wild boar, and
cattle to graze. Occupations or Improvements can ensure a family’s upkeep. Each
of these cards allows the player a small advantage in the game. Victory points
are earned when players renovate their wooden hut to a clay hut and later even
a stone house. But everything else to do with balancing food requirements or
making everyday life a little more comfortable can earn victory points –
especially Family growth. Each game uses a different group of the 166 different
Occupation cards and 146 different Improvements, ensuring that no two games are
exactly alike.

Do You Have What It Takes To Colonize A New
World?

Mechanics Area Control, Dice Rolling, Worker Placement
Theme Science Fiction
Publication Clever Mojo Games, 2010
Ages 13+
Time 90
Players 2 – 4
Description

The Alien civilization
that once ruled here vanished long ago, leaving traces of their technology and
a terrain ripe for settlement.  Now the race is on to see who can take
control of this abandoned planet!

In Alien
Frontiers,
players use dice as space ships to explore and colonize
an alien planet.  Dice can be placed to gather resources, additional
ships, and alien technologies, and eventually colonies to be placed on the
planet’s surface.  Each of the eight areas of the planet grants a special
ability to the player who colonizes and controls it.  Those abilities
relate to the orbital facility above that section of the planet.

The object of the game
is to score points by placing colonies, controlling territories by having a
majority of colonies in a territory, and by possessing certain alien technology
cards.  Each of the location for dice placement has a different way the
can be used.  Sometime it takes two or three dice to use an orbital
facility.  Strategic play of the dice will be critical to a player’s
success.

many of your favorites as you can. But you must plant the beans in your hand in
the order you got them. To get rid of the beans you don’t want to plant, you
trade them to other players for those you want. With clever trading, you get
the cards you want without helping the other players too much. In the end, the
