 New Game
Clans Of Caledonia
Karma Games

Clans of Caledonia is a strategic and interactive economic game for 1 to 4 players that is set in 19th-century Scotland.  Featuring a modular map, nine historic clans, and various scoring and port tiles Clans of Caledonia provides plenty of replayability.

publisher description

In the 19th century, Scotland made the transition from an agricultural to an industrialized country that heavily relied on trade and export. In the following, the food production increased significantly to feed the population growth. Linen was increasingly substituted by the cheaper cotton and raising sheep was given high importance. More and more distilleries were founded and whisky became the premium alcoholic beverage in Europe.

Players represent nine historic clans with unique abilities and compete to produce, trade and export agricultural goods and of course whisky!
The core mechanics and strategies are very thematic.

Develop the kingdom of Fairy Tile by putting new land tiles in play and moving the princess, knight, and dragon across different places such as mountains, forests, and plains. Help them have extraordinary adventures by accomplishing objectives written on the pages of your book. As soon as you complete an objective, develop your story and read the page of your book aloud. Be the first to read all the pages of your book to win the game.

Dwarf King
Iello
Dwarf King is a trick taking card game full of surprises made up of suits of various goblins, dwarves, dragons, and magic.  A game is made up of decks of basic cards, special cards, and quest cards. Played over seven rounds, each round begins with a random draw of a special card, revealing it’s effect and shuffling it in with the basic cards and dealing a hand  to each player.  Then a random quest card is drawn and one of the two scoring rules written on it is chosen.  Each player then makes the best of it with the hand he has been dealt.  The goal is to take tricks or to avoid taking tricks depending on the chosen scoring rules. The player with the highest total score
after seven hands wins the game.
A different scoring rule is chosen for
each round. The type of card you have in your hand at the end of a round will determine if you will be the start player, special card drawer, or the one who will reveal and chose the next quest scoring rule for the new round.

New Game
Noria
Newly released from Stronghold Games is Noria, a 2 to 4 player board game set in a Steampunk/SciFi universe designed by Sophia Wagner who won the Spiel des Jahres fellowship in 2015.

publisher description

A new era is looming on the horizon. The future of Noria is right in front of you, and you must guide your flourishing trading empire into prosperity. Discover flying islands, buy ships, and build factories. Invest in prestigious projects, and secure their success by passing on secret knowledge to politicians. For even above the clouds, there is still room for improvement…

At the center of the game is an innovative mechanism called wheel building. Each player has an action wheel consisting of three rings, with slots for a number of different action discs. Over the course of the game, players try to obtain new discs and manipulate the rings of the wheel to optimize their action selection. Additionally, to ensure their investments bear fruit, they also need to bribe politicians with knowledge.

The path to victory lies in getting your representative on each of the 4 project paths, progressing up these paths, and maximizing the values on each of the 6 victory point multiplier tracks.  The path level on each of the projects times it’s value on the multipler track determines your end game victory points.  Additionally, you’ll score points for your highest attaining representative and points for your representative that is in the lowest position.

Earn end game victory points for fed kitties, having the most costumes, set of different types of toys, and catnip bonuses.

Cursed Court
Atlas Games

New from Atlas Games is Cursed Court, a 2 to 6-player game with area influence, deduction, and hidden information.

A game of Cursed Court is played over 3 rounds called years, with 4 phases to each round. Each player will have 4 crowns and a stack of 20 influence coins in a player color. The game board is made up of nine nobles of the court and a variety of potential scoring spots. The objective of the game is to secure as of the many potential scoring spots as you can based on the limited information you will receive.

At the beginning of each Round adjacent pairs of players are dealt face-down cards that represent one or more of these nobles whose information they share. Additionally, at the beginning of each Phase one noble will be placed face up in the center. During each phase players will place one of their crowns and any number of their influence coins on an unoccupied spot or kick an opponent off a spot by placing double the coins. By the end of the first round/year their will be 4 noble cards face-up and players will occupy 4 potential scoring places on the board. All cards are then revealed and will be the basis for determining which potential scoring spots will score. So, hopefully, based on your shared secret card and the four face-up cards you have secured one or more of the spots that will score. Covalence

Covalence: A Molecule Building Game. This is a chemistry themed, puzzle style, cooperative card game where all players work together, attempting to build a number of secret organic molecules.  One player takes on the role of the “Knower”, who may look at the Secret Molecules, while all other players are the “Builders”.  The Knower gives each Builder clues that relate to their specific Molecule, and the Builders interpret these clues as thy arrange and rearrange their Element tiles, attempting to deduce the structure of their Secret Molecules before the allotted clues run out.

Peptide

Peptide: A Protein Building Game.  This is a strategic card game themed around how all living cells build  proteins.  Players compete to link amino acid cards side-by-side to build their peptide chain (a fancy word for protein).  Each turn, players make thoughtful selections from a limited number of openly available organelle cards.  Their selection rewards them with either resources or action. Final scores are based upon the amino acids in your peptide chain, and the highest score wins.

ION

ION: A Compound Building Game.  This is a card-drafting game about building compounds – chemistry!  Players are given a hand of ion and elements cards, and must select one of those cards either to bond to a card already on the table, or to set it alone.  Players then  pass their remaining hand of cards to an opposing player to start the process over again.  Points are scored based upon the type and quantity of neutrally-balanced compounds players are able to construct, and upon sets of noble gases they are able to collect.
