New in from Asmodee is Colt Express, a family game about robbing a train.
It is 1899 and the Union Pacific Express is headed to the Nice Valley Coal Company to deliver their payroll and 47 passengers. Suddenly the train is attacked by thievin’ bandits! Will the outlaws keep their cool or will Marshal Samuel Ford save the day and prevent the robbery?
Colt Express Asmodee
In Colt Express players are outlaws robbing a train vying for the most loot. Each outlaw will have a special ability. Throughout the game players will preprogram their moves. The outlaws will move from car-to-car, from inside a car to it’s roof, and from roof-to-roof as well as shoot and punch each other in their attempts to steal the most loot off the train. In addition the outlaws must try and avoid Marshal Ford.
After 5 rounds the baddest outlaw is the player with the most loot.

New in from Asmadi is Red7, a quick and easy to learn card game that plays in five minutes. The rules of Red7 are simple: Highest card wins!
Red7 Asmadi Games
Red7 consists of a deck of 49 cards, numbered 1-7, in each of 7 rainbow colors. Each suit of color will have a specific rule; Red: highest card,. Orange: cards of 1 number, Yellow: cards of 1 color, Green: most even cards, and so on down the color spectrum.
To begin a round, each player will receive a 7 card hand, and one card face up in front of them. The face up cards begin each player’s palette. The top card of the discard pile determines what the current rule is. A 7 is always higher than a 6, but when comparing two 6’s, a Red 6 is higher than an Orange 6.
Players will play cards from their hand to their palette and/or discard pile trying to beat the previous player’s play. If you cannot make a play that beats the previous player you are eliminated from the round.
Play continues until there is only 1 player left. The winning player takes the cards from their palette that made up the winning play and sets them aside as this is their score. The next round will now exclude these cards. Rounds continue in this manner until a player has accumulated the predetermined winning points.

In the course of a single morning, your village will decide who among them is a werewolf . . . because all it takes is finding one werewolf to win! Daybreak includes 11 new roles. It can be played as a stand-alone game or combined with the original One Night Ultimate Werewolf; when combined, you can have up to 10 players in a single game.

You will use your own influence to grow your army and steal troop – movement letters and city plans in order to liberate the cities that have been occupied by Richard and Lady Macbeth’s forces. You must be careful, however, because not all of your companions can be trusted. You must beware the vile Iago, who will steal you own plans and report your troop movements to your sworn enemies.
Throughout the game, you will be given quests by the likes of Puck, Shakespeare, and other favorite characters from the pages of William Shakespeare’s great plays.
While only one of the heroes can rule the day, you will need to work together to ensure that Richard doesn’t overrun the realm, that Lady Macbeth doesn’t ensnare your rebellion, and that Iago doesn’t gain the knowledge of Shakespeare’s whereabouts.

Also in are these two Ravensburger family games, Blitzed! and Strike.
Blitzed! Ravensburger
Blitzed! is a simultaneous-play dice game.
In each round plus/minus cards equal to the number of players will be placed in the center of the play area. Below each of these cards will be a task card that has either a sum or an image of 3 dice. Players will vie to claim one of these task cards. To do so, players will all start rolling their dice choosing which to set aside as they work towards matching a task card. Once a task card combination has been met by a player they place their claim card on the task card. No other player may now claim this task card. Play continues until all but one player has claimed a task card. Each player will begin the game with 8 lightning bolt tokens that represent victory points. Players will gain or lose these victory point tokens based on the task cards they claim or fail to claim. The player with the most lightning bolts at the end of the game wins.
Strike Ravensburger
Strike is a press-your-luck dice game.
You will roll you dice into the arena and re-roll dice already there to retrieve any number matches made. Throw in another die or end your turn. X’s rolled are out of the game as are ones sent flying. Players without dice left are eliminated. The last one holding dice wins.

Back in stock after being out of print is San Juan 2nd Edition, a card game version of the popular strategy game Puerto Rico. This 2nd edition includes all of the cards from the original game as well as The New Buildings expansion, and a brand-new bonus building, the Hut.
San Juan Ravensburger
San Juan is played over several rounds. In each round, each player chooses one of 5 different roles and all players take the corresponding action in clockwise order. So, for example, goods are produced by the producer and can then be sold to the trading house by the trader. With the money earned from such sales, players can build buildings in San Juan with the builder. The player who makes the best role choices and makes the best use of his privileges and the role choices of his opponents will achieve the greatest success and will win the game. At the end of the game, the winner is the player who has the most victory points.
The special feature of San Juan is that each card can be used in several ways: as money in a player’s hand, as a building when placed face up in a player’s play area, and as a good when placed face down on a production building.

Just in from Pearl Games/Asmodee is Deus, one of the hot new games coming out of the prestigious Essen Game Convention. Deus is by game designer Sebastien Dujardin who co-designed the board game Troyes.
Deus Pearl Games/Asmodee
In Deus 2-4 players are leaders of an ancient civilization competing to build their own empire on a central Continent game board.
Deus has a modular game board made up of rounded hex Continent tiles. The size of the game board layout will be determined by the number of players. Each player will have an individual tableau board that consists of color slots corresponding to the 5 types of Building cards (blue-Maritime, green-Production, yellow-Scientific, brown-Civil, and red-Military). Each building card has a cost to purchase, a power effect, and related building game piece – various building shapes, meeples, or ships.
Constructing a building consists of playing a building card to the player’s tableau in the appropriate building color slot and then placing the associated building pieces in regions on the Continent. The player can then utilized all of the effects of all of the building cards in that color column. The powers of the building cards allow players to strategically placed their buildings on the Continent to gather resources, money, and victory points.
We have an open copy of
Deus available in our Demo Games Library for you come in and try.

Restocked this week is Coloretto, a family-friendly light strategy card game from Rio Grande Games.
Coloretto Rio Grande Games
Coloretto is made up of 7 color suits of chameleon cards, wild chameleon cards, bonus point cards, place holder cards, and a game ending card. The goal of the game is to accumulate as many cards of 3 different color type chameleons as you can while minimizing the number of the other colors you get. Only 3 different color types in your collection will score positive points while any of the other colors score negative points.
At the start of each round the central play area will have a number of place holder cards equal to the number of players and a draw deck containing all of the other cards with the round ending card placed about 15 cards up from the bottom of the stack. On each turn players will either draw a card and place it in front of one of the place holder cards or take one of the rows of cards from a place holder card. Once a player has taken a row those cards are then placed in the player’s collection area sorted by color. This player is done drawing and taking cards until the end of the round. Play continues until all players have taken a row of cards which signals the end of the round. Begin the next round by placing all of the empty place holder cards back into the middle of the play area. Repeat rounds until the game ending card is drawn. Finish the last round and then score everyone’s collection. The more cards of a color type you collect awards higher points. But be careful lots of cards in a 4th, 5th, or more suit will give you big negative points.

A fast paced, city building,
dice rolling card game.
Classification Card Game
Mechanics Card Drafting, Dice Rolling, Set Collection
Publication IDW Games, 2014
Ages 10+
Time 30
Players 2 – 4
Description
Machi Koro is a quick breezy city building game from
Japan. The box says it’s a 30 minute
game and with 4 players it might take that long. A 2-player game will be much quicker. The object of the game is to be the first
player to activate all 4 of their landmarks.
Players start with 2 basic establishments, 1 wheat field, and 1
bakery. Money is generated on each turn
by a dice roll, if the roll matches the activation number at the top of an
establishment. There is a series of additional
establishments to buy. Their activation
numbers run from 1 through 12. Their
cost to purchase runs from 1 coin to 8 coins.
Establishments are of 4 types.
Blue establishments pay their owner on any player’s roll. Green establishments pay their owner only
when activated by the owner’s roll. Red
establishments earn other players money only on the other player’s roll. And, purple establishments take money from
other players on the owner’s roll.
A player’s turn consists
of a die roll, receiving income on all establishments activated, and the option
to one purchase an establishment, or pay to flip over one of their landmark
cards. At the start of the game each
player will roll 1 die. Seven
establishments require rolls from 7 to 12 to activate. When a player pays to flip over their Train Station
Landmark they will have the option to roll 1 or 2 dice on each turn. It may be beneficial for a player to continue
to roll only 1die if their 1 through 6 establishments are stronger than their
opponents. Or, it could be beneficial to
roll both dice if a player’s 7 through 12 establishments are stronger. Buildings activated by rolls of 7, 8, and 11
or 12 pay based on other establishments owned.
For example, establishment 7-Cheese Factory pays 3 coins for each Ranch
establishment that player owns.
Each of the other
Landmarks gives the player an ability once it has been flipped. Establishments and Landmarks can be purchased
in any order. Once the Train Station
Landmark has been flipped over, players can choose to roll one or both
dice. The dice provide an element of
luck. However, in order to win a player
will need to build an economic engine or significant worth to buy their way to
victory. This game is quick. It is easy to teach and it is a lot of fun.
The Harbor Expansion
(sold separately) adds a bunch more variety in establishments to buy and 2 new
Landmarks to complete.
We have an open copy of Machi Koro available in our Demo Games Library for

Welcome to the Islands
of Murano, home to famous glass factories of Venice. Players will need to build and use glass
factories along with shops, palaces and some special buildings to score as many
points as possible. Each player’s turn
begins with action selection. The islands
are encircled by 18 action spaces. Eight
of those spaces are occupied by a ship.
Players move a ship to an unoccupied action space and then take the
action depicted there. Various actions
allow players to acquire buildings, build buildings, acquire cash, produce
glass, sell to customers, place gondoliers, and acquire character cards. Most actions cost cash. Money management is essential.
Some points are
awarded for building buildings during the game, but most points are scored
during end game scoring. Each of the 40
character cards yields points for a different set of criteria on one of the 7
islands. In order to score the points a
player must have the character card, the conditions described on the card met
on the island, and a gondolier placed at that island’s wharf.
This game requires
some long range planning, but it demands that players be able to react to
changing goals and conditions. Players
do not start with character cards. They
must be acquired before a player knows how to maximize points. When players
acquire a character card they get to draw 3 and keep 1. In this way, players
have a chance to select character cards that fit with their plans. In the meantime a plan needs to be put
together to generate cash. The action
selection track changes with every player’s turn. Players will need to have plan B ready for each
turn.
Murano is another game designed by Inka & Markus Brand who also
designed Village and La Boca. Murano creates the kind of tension and decision
making that Euro gamers will really enjoy.
It is deep enough and variable enough to keep you coming back for more,
but short enough to get more than 1 game per game session.
We have an open copy of Murano available in our Demo
Games Library for you come in and try.
