It’s not just about your
dressmaking business anymore – it’s about managing the most prestigious ball of
the Rococo era!

Description

On the surface Rococo
is a game about making beautiful coats and dresses for noblemen and ladies attending
a prestigious ball.  At its core
Rococo is
a very strategic board game.  Players
begin with 5 employees of varying abilities and a little money.  In each of the 7 rounds players will get to
select 3 employees to play.  Each employee
yields one action and sometimes a bonus action.
A few select master employees can recruit new employees or they can make
special dresses/coats to occupy prestigious locations in 1 of the 5
ballrooms.  Other employees can gather
materials of silk, lace, and thread, or make a dress, or fund a decoration in numerous
locations, or even claim the queen’s favor to lock up “first player” for the
next round.  Players must cycle through
their employee deck before they are allowed to reuse employees that have been
played.
The goal of Rococo is
to score the most prestige points.
Points are awarded for each dress/coat you made, each ballroom where you
have the majority of dresses/coats, for decoration spots that you occupy, and
for some combinations on employee cards acquired late in the game.  Additionally, points are awarded for
combinations triggered by decorations on the terrace and on the monuments.  Bonus points are awarded for being the 1st
to put something in each ballroom.  As
you can see, there are many opportunities for accumulating points.
Money is important
throughout the game.  New employees must
be paid for, dress/coat materials must be paid for, and decorations must be
paid some of which are expensive.  Completed
dresses/coats can be sold rather than going to the ball.  Additionally, income is paid at the end of
each round.
Rococo is a game that will
require multiple plays to really get a handle on.  But it won’t be hard to get those plays
in.  The game brings a little bit of deck
building, some resource management, and a number of different ways to get
points.  Roll that in with a beautiful
board, good components, and balanced game play and you have a winner of a game
even if you are not the best dressed at the ball.

We have an open copy of Rococo available in our Demo
Games Library for you come in and try.

Cubist
Gryphon Games

In CUBIST, your goal is to build the most valuable collection of installations for the new Modern Art Museum. Players build installations with dice based on Installation Cards. A player who completes an Installation collects that card and scores the value shown on it. As players complete Installations, they contribute dice to the Museum, also adding to their final score. When the Museum is completed, or when one player completes five Installations, the game is over and players add up their scores. If you score the most points, you win the game and the new Modern Art Museum is named after you.

Rococo
Eagle Games

Welcome to the Rococo era during the reign of Louis XV when it’s safe to say that holding lavish balls is quite trendy. Important personalities wrap up in noble coats and dresses, anxious to outshine one another. As the biggest event is coming up in just a few weeks, everyone is turning to you with their requests: an elegant coat here, a stunning dress there, or a donation to fund the fireworks at the event. Soon you realize that it’s not just about your dressmaking business anymore – it’s about managing the most prestigious ball of the era…and now it’s time to ro(c)k!

Rococo is a Eurostyle board game with an interesting take on deck-building. Each turn you play one of your employee cards and let that employee perform a task: hire a new employee, buy resources, manufacture a coat or dress, or invest in the ball’s decorations. But not every employee is up to every task, so you must choose and lead your employees wisely – especially since each employee grants a unique bonus and some of these bonuses generate prestige points.

After 7 rounds, the game ends with the big ball and a final scoring. Then you gain prestige points for certain employee bonuses and for coats and dresses that you rent out to guests at the ball as well as for decorations that you funded. The player who collected the most prestige points wins.

From Gryphon Games is Lords & Ladies, a new fast paced card game of family legacy, gossip, and intrigue for 2 to 5 players.

Lords & Ladies
Gryphon Games

In Lords and Ladies, each player controls a turn of the century noble family and their servants.  The goal is to raise your family’s status through careful marriages, hiring servants and having children, all the while destroying rival families through gossip, backstabbing and using superior wit. Status is gained and lost during the game as players compete to be the first to end a round with 18 status points.

In from Gryphon Games is Petite Pastiche, a streamlined edition of the 2011 Mensa Select Award Winner, Pastiche.

Petite Pastiche
Gryphon Games

A world of beautiful colors comes alive as players choose commission cards picturing the finest European art works of the past six centuries. Players score their commissions by mixing primary colors through clever tile placement, and recreating the palette of colors used by the masters. Each player starts with two personal commissions on their wooden easels. There are also four paintings in the Gallery that anyone may attempt to complete as well. Explore the paintings, palettes and pasts of the artists in this unique and challenging game for the whole family.

Put your Fluxx game and your friends and family in the holiday spirit with Holiday Fluxx, the ever-changing card game of the holidays.
Holiday Fluxx
Looney Labs
An ideal
fun and relaxing game that the whole family can play. Fluxx is all about change. You don’t know
what the winning condition is until someone plays a Goal card. If you don’t like
the Goal, play a new Goal card. If you don’t like the Rules, play a new Rule
card. Collect the Keepers and avoid the Creepers. Match the Keepers to the Goal
and win.

The rules
are simple.  Begin the game with a hand of 3 cards and one basic rule: draw one
card then play one card.  Follow the directions written on the card you chose to
play. As cards are drawn and played from the deck, the rules of the game change
from how many cards are drawn, played or even how many cards you can hold at the
end of your turn.

From the makers of the popular co-operative board game Pandemic comes Pandemic: The Cure, an extra strength fast-acting dice game.  This dice-based version is also co-operative.
Pandemic
The Cure
Z-Man Games

Description from Z-Man Games:

Pandemic: The Cure, sets up in less than a minute and plays in 30 minutes. As in the board game, 4 diseases threaten the world and it’s up to your team to save humanity.
Each player takes on a different role that has its own unique set of dice and abilities — and players must take advantage of their specializations if they are to have any hope of winning the game. Players can roll their dice as often as they like, but the more times they re-roll for the perfect turn, the more likely the next epidemic will occur.

If, at any time, any region is infected with more than three dice of a given color, an outbreak occurs, spreading disease into an adjacent region. If too many outbreaks take place, or the rate of infection gets too high, all the players lose. If, however, the players can discover the cures to the four diseases, they all win and humanity is saved!

In from Calliope Games is a deluxe version of Roll For It!, a fast family-friendly dice game  This deluxe version now provides for up to 8 players. Not only does it come in an embossed tin, there are decorative dice and beautifully detailed cards depicting the Calliope characters.
Roll For It!
Deluxe Edition
Calliope Games

The object in Roll For It is to be the first to score 40 points.  You do this by competing for the point-value cards that are face-up in the center of the table.  Each player will have a set of 6 dice of one color.  On their turn players will roll their available dice and match their dice results to the dice images shown on the cards. A card is claimed when a player has met all of the dice images. A new card is then flipped over from the draw pile.

Deciding when and how to spread your dice is key to claiming cards as your opponents will be going for these same cards too.

For those who like a story behind a game:

Long Ago,
before Ares betrayed Calliope and imprisoned her, the Pegasus—strong and witty but full of love and devotion—had narrowly avoided being enslaved by the war god himself, to be used as a flying warhorse in battle. When the Pegasus learned of Calliope’s capture, he knew that he could never let someone so important sit for all eternity in a cage. Realizing his superior strength, but looking to avoid violence, he cleverly concocted a game of dice and cards that balanced wits and luck. He confronted the muse’s guards and challenged them to Roll For It! The prize at stake? The magical key that would open Calliope’s cell. Using all of his strategy, skill, and just a bit of luck, the Pegasus completed the 15-pointer he needed to win the key—and with it, Calliope’s freedom as well!

In from Cheapass Games is Pairs, a simple press-your-luck card game with an unusual deck. Pairs comes in 11 different themes all with the same basic play.

Pairs
Cheapass Games

The cards are numbered from 1 to 10 in a triangular distribution (1×1, 2×2, 3×3, and so on up to 10×10). .  Players take turns drawing cards, trying not to get a pair.  Your odds will depend on what cards you hold, and which cards you have seen. Scoring pairs earns you points, and the first player to reach a target score is the loser.
